Default Coolant?

Hey guys, I'm gunna flush my coolant before winter and i got an in line flush kit, but am confused on what kind of fluid to get.
I read that dex-cool eats headgaskets
I talked to a guy at O'Reiles and he said that dex-cool is just what they call the orange stuff.
They have Havoline dex-cool buy one get one free... and they have prestone dex-cool but it's not buy one get one free.

so the question is... can i get the Havoline? or should i get the mopar stuff which is probably $100/ gallon?

the guy said its the ethelyne glycol that causes issues but they both have it in them...

I'd like to get the stuff tomorrow so... CHOP CHOP on the replys

thanks

The fluid that belongs in our trucks is not dex cool, and it is not orange. It is sort of a pinkish color. Find a Napa store or check your local AAs or AZs, look for the Zerex brand, it is called G-05 or something of the like. The fluid that belongs in our trucks is a H.O.A.T. which is some sort of hybrid acidic and organic fluid, not sure if that is where the color comes from. If you cant find it just buy it from the dealer. $10 extra per gallon is cheaper than $1k plus for a headgasket change or other complications. Good luck.

well.. i did some digging around and i think i'm just gunna go to the dealer on this one. i need HOAT anitfreeze which is pretty hard to find. it is only $15 per gallon at the dealer so it will only be $30 plus some distilled water which i can steal from school.
i guess this was kind of a useless thread since i was forced to get off my lazy azz and find the info myself

edit: guess i spoke too soon... thanks bigdaddy
