Is it possible?
It will not work, a 8.3 V10 in a ram 1500. The SRT-10 is really a ram 2500 body. The 5.7 Hemi will work. I don't mean it can't be done with the V10, you just have to do a lot of body work under the hood. And a new trany.
Doing this swap if you have the time and the money would be fine, but there are some things to think about. Is your truck auto or manual? If it's auto, you would need to delete the shift lever in the steering column, running everything for a manual transmission, cutting and mounting all components for a manual transmission. Being a long bed, where does the end of the transmission of an SRT-10 end compared to your stock one? The driveshaft might not be the same length and need a custom one made. How will the truck handle compared to stock? The truck might not have the same handling as a short bed regular cab. I've never really looked at an SRT-10 quad cab or short bed for that matter, so I don't know if their suspensions are the same.
If you can get this engine cheaper or the same price as the Viper motor, it would be a better idea. More HP more Torque, and it's not stock. Just a thought. It's what I wanna do.

I found both a 426 Hemi and a 440 Hemi for under 15k that had motor tranny wiring and computer to make it all work would just need a new rear diff. I'm pretty sure that any motor bigger than a 5.7 or so would twist that diff to hell. O btw don't worry about it animal i was just saying lol.
