for those of you that did not have the tow mirrors, but later upgraded, how do you open them up? is there a different mirror control panel and switch you also had to get? or do the mirrors open automatically when you put the truck in tow/haul mode?
You flip the mirrors up by hand. Just go to a new car lot when they are closed and try flipping up the mirrors. They are really easy to push up.
really? they didnt make that a power option? i thought those were the "manual" mirrors. if you flip yours by hand do you still have the power option for the adjusting of the mirror glass?

Yes you still have the power heated option. They don't make one that flips up electronically. They all move up by hand.

Yea, they still adjust like the mirrors that you have in your truck now, just not up into tow position and then back down. But think of this, that is quite a bit of glass and plastic to be turning, so a motor might not work that well to rotate it.
ah ok. ive never seen one so i just assumed thats how they worked. cool then i dont need to change the control panel too, just bolt the new mirrors right up and off i go

Yeah but 270 for new glass just to have a turn is a bit too extreme. I was thinking more about taking the mirror (glass) out and dremeling a part of the back of the housing out and fitting some flectors or sorts in the hole and putting a PCB with amber LEDs behind it and wiring it up.
