New guy here with a aero turbine question
I just recently purchased a 2003 Dodge 1500 California Edition Hemi Express. I want to do a few mods to it starting with the exhaust. I am considerin going with the Aero turbine 30/30 and wanted to get some opinions on it. Also, what is the difference between the resonator and muffler? I see Aero offers both for my truck but i can"t tell if i need both or just one or the other? Also, who has the best price? Any help would be appreciated. thanks!

I'll let you know. I am waiting on a 3030XL (reasonated version) to be delivered. I will prob run it with the stock reasonator also. I've read a good number on here do that. I currently have a Flowmaster 40 and dont like the sound. Aero turbine seems to be a good choice and I got mine for a good price on EBay. Nobody around here seems to carry them anymore.

I have the AT3030XL and left the stock resonater on the truck. Nice and quiet at idle but really throaty when you put your foot into it. Here is a few vids of mine https://dodgeforum.com/forum/3rd-gen...-at3030xl.html
There are two versions of the 3030. The first is just the 3030 which is just a muffler. The other is the 3030XL which has a built in resonater.
They are a bit spendy but worth it IMO. I paid about $170.00 for mine from www.moesperformance.com
I think (think is the keyword) that the 3030 (un-resonated) version goes for around $120.00 or so.

Do 03's have a stock resonator that needs to be removed before ordering the muffler? I'm trying to figure ou if i need to order a new muffler and resonator or can i just get one or the other? Sorry for the dumb questions but i am totally new to Dodges.

A resonator uses a tuned cavity to actually actively cancel out sound. It creates a band-pass filter that eliminates problem frequencies - so they tune it for a specific loud spot in engine operation. It targets only a small range of frequencies.
A muffler is usually a series of expansions that take energy from the gas flow to decrease sound. Sometimes they have resonating chambers built in, but typically they operate on a purely expansive vane - expanding a gas so many times into such a volume muffles certain frequencies.
you can get away with just the muffler. You dont need the same resonator to put the muffler on. It'll be preety loud for ya. i have the dynomax bullet and my buddy has the 30/30. His is even louder then mine. Youtube em

no, i dont believe the 03s came with resonators on them. you more than likely have just a muffler. go ahead and try out just the muffler, and if its too loud for you, just take it back in and have a resonator welded on. wont cost very much to get them welded in.
