2006 MC 4x4 bad mileage?

Hi, I just purchased a 2006 megacab heavy half with a hemi. My question is about gas mileage. It has around 39k miles with stock everything. I am only getting 13 mpg on the freeway. Pulling a 2500 pound trailer and I only lost about a half mpg. Just curious if anyone has any advice and how to improve mileage. I wasn't expecting 18, but 16 would be nice since I do a fair split of highway and city. Also I check it the old fashion way when filling up, but the computer in the truck isn't to far off. Any advice would be great! Thanks

Like hammer said, that's about right for ur mileage...I drive a reg cab 4x4 and I get slightly better than that city driving, so I would imagine that the mega cab would hurt the mileage like that.
I get like 16 highway with the reg cab. No mods like a CAI or anything though. I also just have a ****ty flowmaster muffler, but you can get some good exhaust put on and it will help. Mind you, they aren't going to make like a HUGE difference, but little bits here and there u know? I'm also pretty sure that the CAI will help more than exhaust, but don't quote me on that. Really it's about getting that damn hemi hat out of the way. You can find do it yourself guides for a CAI on here that guys have done as well if you dont want to drop a lot of money

I guess I need a programmer. The window sticker say's 14/18 for mpg. I know the megacab has an extra 400 pounds, but it's no different than someone else hauling 4 adults around. You would think the mileage on the window sticker would reflect the megacab and show the difference? But it's just a good excuse to make it louder and faster I guess!

I know a lot of guys with Megas, don't know anybody getting anywhere near 18 on the highway, more like the 14 it states for city.
Hell, I got a QC 4x4 and get about 16 on the interstate if I keep it below 75 mph. Maybe 13 around town. Like your Mega, my '04 does not have MDS, so all 8 cylinders are running all the time (thank God)...

Take those mileage numbers with a grain of salt. I am getting similar mileage with my 2500 and really that is about all you can expect. To really squeeze some more miles out of each tank use fuel that is not blended with ethanol. Free up the intake and exhaust and if you do run a tuner try out the 87 mileage tune. Also if you upped the tire size some new gears may help. An E fan would help some as well. Realistically of all these mods you could gain a combined 2 mpg but that is pretty optimistic.

Yeah, I get like 14, maybe a little bit over city if I drive like an old man haha. That's prob when they're brand new too...I'm sure as they get older and older, even if they're maintained well, the mileage will never be like it was when everything was brand new. Idk, but like stated, you're about right on it. The programmer will help as well, but like people say on here, it's not going to make a big enough difference to pay for itself any time soon.

Yeah, I know what Dodge says is under perfect conditions for their mpg ratings. I thought the '06 mega had the MDS? It's the heavy half mega not 2500. I could be wrong on that one though. I was just shocked after going on a all interstate trip with the cruise set most of the time on 70ish mph and only getting high 13's for mileage. Then on another trip with a 2500 pound trailer I was getting low 13's with a mix of driving.
