Default 2005 Ram 1500 Quad - Brake Lights Not Working - Any ideas

The lights are not burnt out. The Cab light works fine. The 2 rear tail lights do not work. Any ideas as to what to check to get these to work? Thanks!

If you don't have a Factory Service Manual, I strongly recommend you get one---sounds like you're gonna need one. I think there is one available as a download somewhere on this site, but I really don't know where its located.

Hopefully, someone elso will chime in and direct you to that.

As to to your tailight problem, if I had to guess, without doing any hands on looking, I'd start at the front control module (control computer module) located in the engine bay I believe under the power control center (Your relay box).

Lots and lots of wires. You might try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes then reconnecting it. I doubt if it will do anything---but computers are "funny"
A 10mm wrench---and its free.

check your signals, i'm pretty sure they are still the same filament as the brakes in the bulb. if the signals don't work, both bulbs are toast.

The signals work fine. And to answer the first person, the parking lamps work as well as the side lamps. Just the back 2 brake lights. Bed light works fine.

Did you ever find out what was wrong with your brake lights. Mine is doing the same thing. Cab light works, all tail/turn signals work. No blown fuses, put on a new brake switch. What now?

I am unsure of where to find the 3rd gen service manual, but Gone Fishin is right, you will need one! And a multimeter for that matter. Start by taking apart the wiring harness for your taillight and test to see if there is power there. If there is not, then follow that wire (using the service manual to help direct you) and continue to test the power on the way up the truck, hopefully you will find an issue in the wire at some point.

Whatever you do DO NOT use a test light to probe the wires, this allows moisture to get into the wire causing corrosion. Only probe the connectors.
