manual transmission
hey everyone
i am wanting to swap my automatic transmission for a manual one i have looked high and low and have only found a couple so if you guys could get me links, web sites, names of transmissions, prices, or even a site that sells a complete kit-drive shaft or length needed things of that nature that would help me lots and maybe widen my selection

I know they are two completely different trucks, but I did this swap on my first gen dakota. If you want to read up about here is the thread:

It may not be as simple for you because of the obdii computer, but hopefully it will help!

Well I'm not sure if the OBDII computer will cause problems or not cause there are a couple guys in gen 2 dakota that did the swap and they have OBDII, I was just pointing out that it could cause an issue because those are complicated systems! What I do know is the computer will store the transmission codes. I don't know if the light will stay on or not, or if it will pass inspection with the stored codes. I also understand that if you don't deal with the park/neutral safety switch correctly the computer may go into a limp mode? Just something to think about.
OBDI doesn't have these limp modes, but I still had an issue with my cruise control at first, so what I did with my park neutral safety switch is I ran the wires into the cab and grounded it through the clutch pedal's safety switch so that when the clutch pedal is depressed, the computer thinks the auto transmission is in neutral, and when the pedal is released, the computer thinks the auto transmission is in gear. This will still require you press the clutch pedal down to start the truck, but it will avoid any sort of limp mode and allow the cruise control to function properly.
