front end-4wd noise
I did a quick search and didnt find what I was looking for. Heres the issue: On my 07 hemi 1500 it feels like the 4wd is still engaged. I had to put it in 4 last week (not the first time) and now it seems like it didnt go back out. The light is off, switch on 2wd. I messed with it on the way to work this am and did not notice a difference between the 2wd & 4wd. I looked underneath and do not see anything out of the ordinary. Does not pull or shimmy. I can hear it lock & unlock. Mileage has dropped off (like its still in 4wd?). No dash light messages/codes. I dropped it off at the dealer (26000 miles) to have them look at it. This is my first Dodge and I bought it in April. Just curious to what you guys have to say. BTW, I tried it in reverse and did not seem to make a difference either.
On my 96 grand cherokee I had to back up a few feet every time i took it out of 4 wheel drive. That happened after I put a new chain in it. I know on mine even reverse would take 10-15 feet. It had the 242 in it.
With that being said, I would be shocked if it was the case. Im not fully sure, but does the 3rd gen Rams use a vacuum actuator in the axle? My 01 did and connected to the TC. Maybe its losing vacuum so the front axle is staying engaged. I could be totally wrong too. Just a guess.

I sure hope you can get it figured out.
Picked my truck up and drove it home. Noise still there so I turned around and this time had one of the mechanics ride with me. Either I didn't explain it well enough or they only do what they are told...not sure. Anyways, after the mechanic rode with me, he ordered a set a wheel bearings for the front. Hopefully this will take care of the noise/vibration issues. Will let you know.
