Default Engine ticking noise

Hey, I have a 2003 Dodge Ram with a 4.7 litre. It has 13700 miles on it and it has a obnoxious ticking noise coming from the passengers side of the engine. I have been told that it is the lifters and others have told me that it was followers because it has single overhead cam. I want to eliminate this ticking noise but I'm not sure on how to fix it. I have also been told that I could put some additives in it like restore but the ticking is still there. I have also put in a heavier weight of oil and still ticking. Anyone know how to fix this problem?

Guys,
I have the same thing when I bought my 07 it had 12000 on it and still on warrantee. I took it to the Dodge Dealer 3 times for this and they said it was normal. They even pulled a few off the lot to see if they had the same sound so according to the dealer it is normal?
My Ford never made this sound?

Four possible sources. (that I know of)
1. Exhaust manifold gaskets leaking. 2. Valve lash adjustors. 3. Timing chain tensioner. 4. Piston slap. My 03 4.7 has piston slap on cold start.
If repairs are on your dime make dam sure that they get the diagnosis right!
Good Luck

I don't know if you ever resolved this, but my '04 4.7 was doing the same thing and it kept getting louder. Turns out they are supposed to have problems with the exhaust manifold bolts breaking off or backing out on the drivers side. Mine had 1 break off and one back out a bit. It was ticking pretty loud. Once that was fixed, most all of the noise was gone. The only thing I get now is a lifter tick when it's started cold. Other than that, it quietens down after about a minute. Was told the same thing... NORMAL.

I have a 2002 Ram 1500 with a 4.7 engine. I've had an annoying ticking sound, under my passenger side valve cover. The first mechanic told me, it was the timing chain/guides. So, He replaced the entire timing chain assembly. I was still, having a ticking sound. So, I changed all 8 valve lifters. I am still, having that same ticking sound. Any ideas, as to what it could be ? Can it be bad rocker arms ? How can you tell, if they are bad ? I only checked that the roller moved freely. This is really getting annoying. If someone, can give me some advice, it would be greatly appreciated. I am really starting to hate Dodge. Never had this many issues with my Chevrolet trucks.
