Changing the engine oil is about the extent of my automotive abilities. I won't know until I have the truck looked at, but I'm not taking it to the dealer. I have a non-brand repair shop I've used for years and I believe I can trust them to give me an honest appraisal of the problem.

yeah but I dount it is his different unit itself causing the whining. It is the pinion bearing or the gears. I dont see the diff unit itself causing this noise

mine is whining like crazy but it is the pinion bearings, While they are in there im putting the trutrac in to get ride of my stock LSD which already lost its clips. Killing two birds with one stone.

Good news, bad news.

It's not the differential, it's one of the front wheel bearing housings. Unfortunately that means replacing two housings.

I really like my truck, but jeeeesh, a differential at 70K and wheel bearings at 90K.

A wheel bearing at 90k isn't really all that bad imo. Sounds about right to me.

Sounds right to me also. Im getting ready to replace mine here soon and although they do not NEED replacing, Im going to change them out because of my trucks height with lifts combined with my rim and rim size. On ebay they arent but about 75 shipped
