Default namw that noise and its a popular one

so i posted this awhile back and ive had many people say they have this same noise but no one can find out what it is. originally i said it sounded like chirpping and that it was coming from the front drivers side and it only made the noise when i went over bumps or unsmooth roads but it wouldnt always make the noise. well after getting some take out food i was eating it out of the styrofoam container and i rubbed 2 pieces of styrofoam together and it made the same exact sound my truck is making.the last time i was driving the truck and it was maing the noise i turned the radio off and closed the windows, then i covered my right ear and i couldnt hear the noise.so i then covered my left ear and i did hear it - so i think its coming from the center or passenger side.so the big question now is - what parts of my truck could be making a chirp/styrofoam rubbing together sound? i dont think its any mechanical parts like shocks, joints or anything like that so could it be something in the console or inside the door panels? P L E A S E H E L P!!!!!!!!!!

You have some plastic trim pieces rubbing together. Sorry its not that help full but your gonna need to spend some time on a bumpy road that is pretty desolate so you can really isolate that noise. Maybe get a buddy to hold the wheel for you while you drive (remember deserted road) so you can put your head towards the noise. Thats how I have found squeeks in other vehicles and motorhomes so best of luck man.

I know my door locks chirp after I put the truck into drive sometimes, when they are auto-locking. Doesn't always happen, just every now and then.

I have the exact same noise. It happens once in a while. I dont let stuff like that drive me crazy, it happens infrequent enough that I look at it kind of like a visit from my mother in law. It comes in quick and leaves just as fast. I think it is trim pieces. I have heard this in other cars as well, it is only heard from the inside. I think my noise is isolated to the dash though, only when the cup holder is down.

The last noise I had turned out to be the jack/parts under the passenger seat. It drove me crazy trying to figure that one out. Check anything that moves like the glove box, passenger seatbelt, cup holder, center console and look under the back seat in the storage area. But I agree it would be easier to have someone else drive you so you can listen for it. Good luck.

Welcome to the club of unexplainable noises, I have a similar problem as well but mines a bit harder to figure out since it only does it climbing hills or under load.

For yours I would check the middle seat/storage compartment, jack, cup holders, glove box and ANYTHING you might have stuck in a door at one point or another (had that problem before, wife stuck a bottle of water in the door and it was resting on some tools, made such an annoying rattle!).

Also have you had your dash off for any reason recently? New sound system or something?
