its kinda like running open headers... instead of the exhaust going through a muffler and a bunch of piping to get out it comes out right before the muffler which makes is LOUD. the exhaust doesnt get baffeled by all of the turns and bends in the pipe...
that is harder to explain than i thought. lol

You got it semi right. If you look at the cutout its a Y pipe, the straight through side goes on the pipe leading to your muffler and the other end has the valve. When you open the valve the exhaust gasses will take the path of least resistance which in most cases means coming out of the open end of the cutout instead of through the muffler resulting in a much louder exhaust the improves your top end and adds a bit more hp too. Now since you are not blocking off the rising leading to the muffler some exhaust will still flow through muffler but not a lot. Personally the dmh cutout looks like it would divert the exhaust gas through the cutout better than that one would because of the Y pipe design.

man I love/hate seeing these as I used to have this sound as I just cut my exhaust off but now I have a muffler and it is way to quiet but I will hopefully be picking one of these up come march for my birthday so I can go back to the way it sounded but close it for highway driving because when I had the cutout and it down shifted at all on the highway it would wake everyone up in the cab lol as I climbed the hill but it did get people out of your way lol

hey guys. i was driving around with my dad the other day (with the cutout open of course lol ) and he was wondering if i should get a turndown to go on the end of the cutout. he was worried about the fumes getting into the cab. i havent noticed anything but was wondering what you guys think.
