Default hazy headlight...

ok guys ive tried all the clearing techniques i have heard about and my one lense on my drivers side is starting to annoy me. ever since i painted the insides i can see it more now than before i have some severe hazing on the lense its on the outside i assessed it when i had them apart. now has anyone wet sanded them ? i heard about this over in the 2nd gen section when i was a part of that crew and wonder if anyone has had any luck. it looks almost like frost on a window on a cold wintery day....i was wondering if i wet sand with a high # grit like some 1200 or higher if it would come off them maybe some polish or clear coat......any ideas guys im out of them and ive taken some nasty lenses and cleared em pretty darn good......

Must not be air tight on the inside, I had that problem last fall/winter for a little while.

Maybe try resealing them. If its possible. That could be the problem.

If that's not the problem Meguiars has this Headlight restoration kit for 25 bucks http://www.meguiarsdirect.com/detail/MEG+G1900

here's a vid on how to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggO4G0iEcnk

me and my brother also sanded the headlights on my old grand marquis and added some spray on clear coat and it did the job here's a vid on sanding and using plastix from meguiars(not me) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obv_ECYbVhU

Its oxidation. Many cars head lights do that after a few years in the sun. There are kits available to clear them up, but you have to be diligent and keep polishing them and finishing them with a coat of wax, if not, they will frost more quickly as the clear coat is sanded off with any reputable kit.

A good kit I have used on my old Sentra is called Crystal View and can be had for $20 at Wallys. Took me a total of about half an hour to do both sides.

I know the before pic is not that great as it was taken a year or so before, but these were the original headlights on a 9 year old Sentra. Cleared up pretty nice IMO. The only thing I will do different when I do the Ram is take the headlights out, as some of that white run off in the second pic never came off.

My wife's pt cruiser has this oxidation like build up on the outside that makes it look cloudy. On one of the headlights I was able to get really good results wet sanding with 1000, 1500 and 2000 and then using that plastix to finish it off. Just make sure to keep the headlight and the sand paper nice and wet and don't apply too much pressure.

The other headlight on her car didn't turn out as well. I think I was rushing more on that one though.

Definitely wash off the run off from the sanding or whatever immediately to make sure it doesn't dry on there.

Lesson learned the hard way. Actually this was my commuter car (145 miles a day, 3 weeks out of the month), so I didnt care too much.
