truck sputtering and dying - help
My buddy has a dodge ram 1500 with a 4.7l V-8, i went to his house yesterday to check it out, when you crank it it will idle fine for a few seconds then it will start idleing down then die, i tried to drive it and it started jerking real bad and died. I took my tech 2 over and checked code and it was a fuel air metering code. i cleared it and it hasnt come back
Today - did some research and it doesnt have a mass air flow sensor. Also it wasnt showing air fuel metering since i cleared it last night, I messed with it with a little while and it finally threw a Throttle position sensor code, i replaced it and cleaned iac sensor and it still wont run, so i replaced the IAC sensor since i read both of these sensors will make the truck jerk and not run, it started throwing the TPS code again, so now im thinking that i could have bought a faulty TPS sensor or its something else. Any more ideas?

Truck still not running, had it at mechanic shop for 3 days and they couldnt figure it out, i think they just hooked scanner up to it and it didnt tell them exactly what it was, dont know why they kept it for 3 days, they didnt charge me anything though

wow, this thread went under the radar.
has he done any work under the hood recently? cleaned throttle body, changed intake? there is an air flow sensor under the hood somewhere. if that gets knocked it can start doing funny things. can cause all the problems you are having. on the hemis its right in front of the throttle body. don't know on the 4.7.
call the auto parts store and ask them to look it up, they'll be able to find it faster than you or I will. I know they were able to find it real fast for me (even when dodge couldn't). was a $26 part

This may or may not help, but sometimes on the air sensors if there is any leakage in the intake tube after the sensor it will act up because the computer is getting confused. I ran into this with my trans am i had. It turned out that the rubber hose that attatched to the throttle body had curled up underneath where i couldn't see it well. Good luck!
Sounds like you could be having a fuel problem. Turning the key fresh everytime, the pump build pressure in the system. The truck will run briefly and then sputter out and eventually die if the pressure is lost. If you can replce the air sensor do so, but i would try to run the truck and let it die again. Then immediately turn the truck off and see if there is pressure on the fuel rail. There is a shrader valve you can poke with a screwdriver It's mounted on the fuel rail and looks like a valve stem. Then, i would look into the fuel pressure regulator on the rail and then after that look into your fuel pump.
