Default ? for people with bi-xenon retrofit lights

I had a question for those of you that have done a bi-xenon HID projector retrofit. I bought a set of E55 bi-xenon projectors. Currently, I have aftermarket headlights with separate bulbs for low (HID) and high (halogen) beams. And when I turn on my high beams, the lows shut off. I assume that the computer is programmed to do that since the stock bulbs are dual filament, so it doesn’t burn out the bulbs or whatever. My question would be with the bi-xenon projectors, when you turn the high beams on, does it shut off the bulb? Now, I haven’t gotten any parts in yet, so I don’t know what the wiring harness looks like. I’m just wondering, since for some reason, I am thinking that the wiring harness won’t be that much different than mine is currently, so when you turn your highs on, it would activate the solenoid, move the cutoff shield, but turn off the bulb.

Bi-xenon HID projectors use a shield that raises and lowers when highbeam power is applied. The bulb has power all the time and when you hit the highbeam switch, it moves the lens upward and redirects the light. Now as far as keeping the bulb on with the stock programming..... You need a special relay kit for that with a couple of diodes.
I would also reccomend not doing a retro on aftermarkets as you may not have enough room and they may be more difficult??

As Dog said, with the e55s there is the solenoid that will move and let more light out. Normally when you turn on the brights it would cut the power from the lows and thats where the lights would turn off. What you have to do is build your relay harness so that when you turn on the highs and the solenoid in the e55s is energized, it feeds voltage back in the bulbs. The diodes are needed and used so that when you feed back that voltage it doesnt get back to the PCM and cause issues.

I hate to jack the thread, but I have dual beam aftermarket headlights set up in my truck, if I was to do the same thing with the relay, would I be able to have it run my low beams at the same time as my high beams and still be able to turn off my high beams? I really want to do this because I set my high beams up as hid's and I love them, but that split second before they get charged up and it is somewhat dark I wouldnt mind having my low beams running during that time, I already set up my fogs to do that also, but I want to be able to run it all when I run my high beams.

If you re-read what you have said here you will realize it's impossible, unless you have a seperate switch.

Sounds like you have a mess on your hands. it takes 20-30 sec for a HID bulb to fully warm up and constant on/off of high beams isn't good for the HID bulb or ballast.
If you made yourself a seperate harness for the HID's, then you can do what you want. This is the only simple solution around your problem. Push the button and your highs come on and you have full control as usual for the lows. A couple of diodes are needed to allow your HID's to work along with the lows.
You would just essentially leave your lows on while using the highbeams.
