02 stalling issues
hey all i am new to this site and wanted to see if anyone has experienced a problem that i am having and cant put my finger on it. it randomly starts spuddering like im running out of gas and then stalls. then as soon as it stalls i can just start it right back up without a issue and it will run for a long time with no problems. this has been doing this for a few weeks now. some days i can drive it all day and has no problems. anyone have any ideas on what this may be? anything is helpfull
Thanks alot
Thanks alot
no it doesnt matter if its cold or warm it may run for days without having any issues and then all of a sudden as you drive it may be after a half hour maybe longer it varies it just starts spuddering like its running out of gas and if you give it gas it doesnt really go anywhere . i stop let it stall out then start it right back up without giving it any time then it runns mint for different periods of time could be all day could be a few days could do it again before i even get home its a crazy problem iv asked a bunch of people and noone really can put there finger on it
That's kinda weird, I don't know what it could be. I'm guessing you've already run a good fuel system cleaner like techron concentrate or gumout regane. If you ever figure it out let us know, good luck.
My best guess is that it could be a sensor (or more than one) going bad and telling the computer to over adjust the fuel to the point of stalling. That, and or it could be the ECU itself. The mileage you have on the truck could also be a factor. Yours is a '02 right? I have an '07, but it already has 40k+ on it, so you might have alot more than many others. I don't trust these computers. I was towing a fully loaded subaru on a trailer thu the mountains in east OK. The truck just wouldn't put the power down during the whole ordeal except for one time. I was running out of gas, and the engine still wouldn't cooperate. But LO and behold! The light came on, the truck IMMEDIATELY shifted up and applied the power and mileage to get to the next station. I filled up the tank, and what do you figure happened? Back to square one. I personally think that these computers are limited in their mileage and capabilities. I constantly notice that the engine will rev lower and sputter a bit when I come so a stop light and sit for a bit. Just my $0.02. My only other suggestion is (and it's quite expensive) is to redo the injectors, o2 sensors, TPS, cam/crank pos. sensor, fuel pump, possibly ECU and anything that isn't completely mechanical on the truck. Good luck and let us know how it went!

so iv talked to a bunch of different mechanics and some have sugested a EGR valve. and i also took it and got the codes read. the engine light finally came on . it had 3 codes 1 was a o2 sensor and the other 2 were evap leaks medium and large. so i am getting a new valve this weekend and ill update to see if it fixes my problems. but the mechanics say that that valve opens after the engine is warm to allow some of the exhaust in to the intake to control emissions. so if this is opening and not adjusting when im driving it could be getting choked out. so going to try that and let everyone know. thanks for all the feedback
