Yeah it would be a royal PITA for 4x4 trucks as you have to tear into your exhaust system so you have room to move the trans back, if you have the stock Y removed and have duals you'll be fine but the stock Y gets in the way on the 4x4s, plus there are a few extra things that need to be removed.

Just a quick question, I've seen it done both ways. Is it easier, w/4x4, to pull the engine instead of the transfer case & trans?? I know it was on some of the older trucks, but I've never had either out of a 3rd gen.

You really only need to remove the exhaust, the Y to be more precise. If it is welded up the your basically pulling the manifolds of to get the Y off or cutting the Y and going duals out the back.

This is the reason why I am clamping my system together when I put the headers on. Don't want to have to cut it up if I decide to put in a converter.

Silver, if you head out this way I know a guy with a lift. He might let you use it. Just a short drive for you

That's not going to get it done. You need to drive that thing out here. By then I will hopefully have a cam install under my belt and we could throw one in your truck too

It be a shorter drive with less snow out this way. I know a guy with a shop and a guy that can do the install. Then we can see how fast your truck really is
