Trans. not shifting
My driveway is on a slight incline but nothing worse than anyone elses. I've owned it since new and this is the 1st time i've had a problem. I don't drive it much but it has sat for much longer times than this with no problems. I have AAA coming now to pick it up and take it to my mechanic.
Ok my transmission needs to be replaced and it's at a Dodge dealership right now. It is under the 7/70000 mile warranty. However, when i called the dealership the service manager in charge of my case is now telling me i will owe them $797.00 dollars for the cooler and cleaning the (muck) out of the lines. My tranny fluid was perfect and it only had 19,000 miles on it so if damage to the fluid should have been caused my the failure of it. Are they just trying to scam me? Is there a Dodge phone number I can call to get a supervisor? Thanks
t5000; Have you tried to PM this site's tranny expert? "TransGuy37"
In the future when parking on the drive incline, before throwing it into park, shift to Neutral, SET the park brake, then move the trans into park position.
Always keep the truck's weight off the trans parking pin.
The stealerShip is shoving you BS about dirty trans fluid. What he is saying he is charging you more for line and cooler flush than a normal BG trans flush which include it all. (approx 150$) .

You got a bad tranny and the dealership that is having to replace/fix it is trying to get money out of you. No way they would get that out my wallet. i would talk to the manger of the dealership or send an email or two to dodge hq. You shouldn't have to pay a dime.
I was finally able to locate a factory warranty help number and spoke to a rep. He opened up a file and gave me a reference #. He said it will be investigated and I will receive a return call no later than the end of business hours on Monday.
Dealerships love to give you the runaround so they don't have to eat the entire cost. It shouldn't be "mucked up" with as few miles as you have on there. They get over on people who know nothing about a vehicle other than how to turn it on. Just keep fightin' 'em. You shouldn't have to pay anything. Also, have them show you on the truck the muck they're talking about. Good luck!
Well after my 2nd phone call I just received a call back from the rep. handling my case. Now they are going to cover (one time only) the entire repair minus the extended warranty deductible. He said they are only doing this because of my low mileage. What BS. I then called the service manager and asked again why the trans cooler had to be replaced. This time he said debris from a failed torque converter is what ruined it and that's why it needs to be replaced also. If that was the case wouldn't they have to cover that anyway since the torque converter failure caused the trans cooler damage?
Yep, that's why they agreed to cover it. It's all under warranty so any failed part they should cover period. Like I said, some people who know nothing about cars would just pay them and take the hit. If you know you're right, fight them over it. Warranty is warranty. As long as it's covered they can't charge you anything unless you just completely abused the truck, which isn't the case here. Congrats, man!!! Don't let the dealership push you around, you spent a lot of money with them, you should get great service no matter what.
