Default Cranking TB

I drive a 2005 dodge ram 4x4 and was going to crank my tb about 2.5" or just enough to get the front up a lil more than the back. will this be too much? i def want to get it level but i wouldnt mind it being a little bit higher in the front. Iv heard this will make the ride alot stiffer so i was going to order some new shocks but didnt really know what kind i should buy. Any suggestions?

I believe if you crank the torsion bar the ride will be stiffer...period. I don't think new shocks will help with that.

As far as what shocks people like on a 4x4, there are lots of threads on here about that already and I think there is even a poll in the 3rd Gen FAQ section.

Noticeably stiffer suspension with cranked TB or with a leveling kit. Even more so with the leveling kit in my case. It isn't a problem, but noticeable.

You can get a leveling kit that has shock relocation with it. That will help with the ride stiffness, and then you can always just remove them if you end up wanting to put new shocks on.

That's what I did after talking it over with Hammer. I didn't want to crank the tbars cuz i didnt want it to cause premature failure in anything.

The level kit with the shock relocation brackets was like $116 + S&H, where as a regular level kit without them was like 113...So for 3 dollars more I put off having to get new shocks right now, even though I am probably going to change them out in the near future. Hammer said it makes a HUGE difference getting some decent ones that are like $40 a pop.

There's a link for you if you want.

Scroll down til you get to trailmaster make, and the last one on the list is for our year and 4x4. $117 with shock relocation brackets
