Default new here- level lift

im usually found over on the f150/ford forums but my dad owns a 2005 dodge ram 1500 2wd quad cab hemi. im planing on buying him a 2.5" level kit for christmas but we still want rake. we tow often and the truck and trailer sit perfectly level when attached what would be better: blocks or add-a-leafs in the rear?

I would say neither, do Airbags, that way you can have the real nice level look and when you are under load you can keep the rear end up.

I'm not sure how blocks will handle the towing, haven't tried with mine yet, so I can't speak from experience. I don't think it'll be a problem though.. I know for a fact that Add-a-leafs will work perfectly, but will make the ride a little stiffer (like a 2500) when driving around town without a trailer. Airbags are the ideal set-up though. Like butch1581 said, check around ebay and craigslist.

You have another option sort of...They do make leveling kits that are only 1.5 inches for that year I believe. Then you still get room for bigger tires and maintain a little rake in the back.

hell, you can do a set of Air Lift Ride Control air bags for around $200. That ought to work into about any budget.

I would say do a 2" level kit, not a 2.5 if you still want a bit of rake in the back...then he will be "almost" level, but when towing the truck will sit perfectly level...

the truck has quite a bit of rake as it sits now- stock. and with our 9800 lb boat trailer hitched up the truck sits perfectly level and tows great and pulls it out of the water without any problems every time. we just want to lift the entire truck 2-3 inches w/o a body lift, which is why im asking: blocks or add-a-leafs?

I had a friend who was in the same situation as you. He went with rough Country's 2 inch kit and added a few leafs to the rear. Turned out really nice. i think he used leafs from a wrecked ram 1500.
