When that happens buddy, I got a CB beat hands down. I'll just go down to my storage bin and dig out the HAM Radio my grandfather left me.

For those of you who are too young, a HAM Radio, as defined:

Amateur radio, often called ham radio, is both a hobby and a service in which participants, called "hams," use various types of radio communications equipment to communicate with other radio amateurs for public service, recreation and self-training.
Amateur radio operators enjoy personal, worldwide wireless communications with each other and are able to support their communities with emergency and disaster communications if necessary, while increasing their personal knowledge of electronics and radio theory. An estimated six million people throughout the world are regularly involved with amateur radio.

Anybody mount the antennas to the rear bumper or do most put them on the roof? On my Cherokee I have mine tied into the quarter panel on the opposite side of my radio antenna. It looks stock.

Use to use mine for primarily talking between vehicles on the trail while 4 wheeling up in the mountains. Also sometimes cheap entertainment traveling the interstates solo and you can get good intel from the truckers on cops, accident detours, etc.

Wow wish I had ictures. nice thread, even though hammer hates it, lol

I have mine mounted vertical, buttons up, against my middle seat, next to my transfer case shifter. All I did was went and got a simple "U" mount. Mounted radio to the mount, then bolted it to the floor. Easy.

I dont have a amp yet, kinda been holding out, lol. But this is what Im running.

SuperStar 3900G, import with side band. Last time I had it peeked and tuned it was ranging around 29 Watts. Pretty decent. I talk through a cobra mic, and listen through a Wilson 1000 magnet mount... common. Ran the antenna line through the third brake light.

Sounds like a pretty good setup.

And was it the trash can or the very defensive state he seems to be in that gave it away for ya? lol
