Default Trans Go or no go?

Hey guys have a question for you all. The buttery smooth shifts in the 545rfe suit a vehicle like the Durango/Apsen or the LX based cars okay but IMO it is unacceptable in a truck that can tow 8500lbs. The trans go kit seem to help resolve some of these issues just wondering if anyone has used or has had experience with one so I can make an educated decision.

I read up on getting one of these kits when I was running the DSP bc I was getting no trans control out of the DSP. From what I read, these kits are hit or miss. Some guys liked what they got and others said they felt nothing. Here is something that I found while researching that shows my most guys say that they don't get results with the shift kit until they do the resistor mod.

"Spoke with my Brother-in-Law on Monday who works at Daimler Chrysler in Detroit (the main reason I am now driving a Dodge Ram & not a Chevy anymore.) Anyway, I asked him to talk with the powertrain engineers about the best way to firm up the shifts of the 545RFE. I asked him to talk to the engineers about the Stage III at SharaDon Performance and the TransGo shift reprogramming kit, both with and without the resistor. I asked him to get the word from the engineers specifically about how any of the shift firming options from above would affect transmission longevity. I also told him that I was running a SC tuner and also asked him find out if they believe anything negative would come from combining the tuner and either of the two shift firming options. I heard back from my Brother-in-Law last night and he told me that the engineer he spoke with, told him that, "transmission functions relating to shift firmness and execution is 100% software controlled." That according to the engineer, while the physical changes to the valve-body and internal transmission controls will work in creating a firmer shift, the mechanical changes could possibly create a condition in contradiction to what the transmission is trying to accomplish via the PCM."

Damnit. I am so tired of these butter smooth shifts. I dont want tire chirping rippers but something firmer would be nice. Does anyone have any way to tune the TCM in a 2003 Hemi.

The thing with the TMR that bothers me is that it is a trans protector. If I had a way of making it shift harder or increase the line pressure then I would have less to worry about then I could do the TMR mod. I will talk to by tuner buddy and see what we can do with my truck. Maybe just maybe we can access some trans parameters and get **** done.

I've had the delete TMR mod on my truck for 10K now, with no problems at all.
I read up on this before I did it and there were people with over 100K with this mod.
It really firms up the 1-2 and the 2-3 shifts at wot but I can't feel anything just puttering around.
It's a free mod that works very well at wot.
Just my 2c.

I also have the TMR mod done on my 2003 2500. I did it right after buying the truck and have put 20k on since. I tow a camper and have an 8.5' V-plow and have no issues. I also went to install a Transgo shift kit and found that the place I bought it from screwed up my order and sent me a kit used with a rebuild. I was able to do some of the VB mods with a thicker plate and different springs. I couldn't use the pump mod pieces though. Between these 2 mods, I can feel a little difference in the shift speed. It is faster and is VERY quick at WOT. When towing, I run WOT and get up to speed very quick. Pisses my buddy off when he is following in his 6 speed Cummins and I am pulling away. I do still get a sloppy shift under partial throttle though.
