Default What do I do?

Fortunately, sick I am a dork, I called my warranty company today to verify my account. For whatever reason everytime I have called, they haven't been able to verify that I'm an account holder. Well, I found out today that the dealer I bought the warranty from gave me the wrong pamphlet to the warranty company, so I had been calling the wrong place the last 8 months. Anyways, I looked through my paperwork and found the company.

After I got in touch with them and they were able to verify my account, I asked him to go over what my warranty was. He told me it expired October of 2012 or at 72,000 miles, whichever came first. When I had bought my truck, I told them I wanted a 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. They told me all they could get was 46,000. But at the end of the deal they said they found a warranty that could get darn near close to 100,000. The financial consultant told me he had a 7 year/72,000 mile warranty that would start the day of the purchase meaning it would expire April of 2016 or at 96,000 miles (the truck had 26,000 miles when I bought it ). I confirmed with him numerous times that the warranty started from the DAY I bought it, and not when the vehicle was new. So turns out, he lied or was misinformed. I bought the truck under the assumption it was covered close to 96,000 miles. Now that it expires at 72,000 miles, this changes everything, along with the selling point of the truck I had anticipated.

since it's been so long since you bought your truck. 2012-7years means you bought in Oct. 2005? Truck was 1 yr old.
I doubt there's anything you can do now. that is why it's so critical to check paperwork before you sign. If you had called within 30days you could have made a change or had a refund. i say your SOL and have until 72kmi.
Most warranties are for total mileage. They don't begin with the mileage when you buy them. Meaning the current mileage is part of the 72kmi and never an addition.

ya im pretty sure you have up to 72.000 miles to put on the truck yourself, not when the odometer reaches 72,000. at least thats how my warrenty is.

Do you have any documentation verifying that you were told what you say you were told by the dealer? If not, you are probably stuck with what you have.

How many pages is the warranty? If you can scan them so they are readable I could read it over and let you know what is what. You can block any personal info out doesn't matter. The fine print is what i would be looking at.

It's been a while to go off the top of my head, but there should be a start date and mileage start. Also, if the warranty was 72kmi ontop of the original 26kmi then there would usually be a place for 98kmi when the warranty expires. if not and the warranty says 7yr/72kmi and expires on a given date, then the warranty is only good till 72kmi total vehicle miles or by the date given. So if the truck had 25,990 miles on it, the warranty should say 97,990 or until April 1 2016

I just re-read your post....

sooo, did you JUST buy this truck? 2016-7yr is 2009. Not that it changes anything much other than you have more warranty time than I expected...lol

Review your paperwork, if you paid for a 7year 72,000 mile warranty then that's what they owe you. Now if you don't have proof you paid for it I don't think you'll have too much luck arguing the point.

That's why I always fax over my contracts to dirtydogg. I also seek him out for stereo advice. he hooked me up with an AWESOME kraco cassette and a sweet 4" sub. Sounds mad crazy!

I will try better to clarify my situation.

I bought the truck in April of 2009 with 26,000 miles. Before I bought it I emphasized I needed a warranty that would cover me up to 100,000 miles or close to it. Initially they said they didn't have anything that large and the best they could do was a 4 year/48,000 miles in addition. But after ruminating over it they came back and said they found a warranty that could cover the truck for an additional 7 years/72,000 miles. Now that I have contacted the warranty company, they are telling me it's a 7 year/72,000 miles from the day the. truck was new. They told me it would expire in April of 2016 or 98,000 miles but in reality, it expires in October of 2012 or at 72,000 miles.

I called them and they denied it. Of course I don't have paperwork proving that they claimed the warranty was in addition, but I asked the finance manager several times to clarify that it was in addition and not in total. He reassured me numerous times that it was 72,000 extra miles from what the truck had (which was 26,000 miles). My dad told me to just forget about it, he said there's nothing really to do if they are going to deny it. They either made a mistake or lied to me. Either way this changes things for me and when I plan to sell it. I anticipated selling it around 70,000 miles; a great selling point would be that it had 28,000 miles of warranty left. Now I plan to sell it around 55,000 miles or in December of 2011. I'm sad, this means I have to sell my truck much earlier than I had planned.
