yeah kickers are nice but im going a little more high end than that. although i will say that their cvt12 (i have 2) are pretty amazing for a shallow mount and for the price. so thanks anyway

no i did 6.5 and used the adapter plate that came with it. i will probabaly take them out and make something out of wood though. its really easy. use your old speaker as a template and cut out the new hole and install

no i put the 6.5's back there and i did the 6.5 typre-r coaxils back there in my 05 ram. i just mounted them to the adapter plate that they come with and fit it in there and turn it and manipulate it until it seats w/o touching anything. i didn't take any pics bc i didn't think any one would care. i plan on re doing it. i will get a factory speaker for a template so the mounting holes match, trace it then transfer the 6.5 measurements over it cut and apply. there is plenty of room in there to make it work. i should have done it like this the first time but it was getting late and i didn't think my neighbors would appreciate the saws running at 1 am +. it will fit trust me. right now i have less than a 1/4 inch spacer and it fits. counter sink your screws so the speaker wont touch them

sweet bro thanks for your help. 1 last question for now lol. is the adapter plate just a ring thats 5.25 inside diameter, and 6.5 outside? thats what seems to be logical to me

That would be correct ^^ Actually I've seen pics and from what I've seen, it's a ring that you mount to 5.25 location and then 6.5's can mount into it's holes located elsewhere on the ring.

the one that came with the speakers im not sure. i have an extra set in my garage from the front ill measure tomorrow. i think its 6.5 bc the woofer just sits in there but the gap puts it out far enough for everything to clear. it wasn't pretty and i drilled 2 holes in my truck for it to sit right. that is why i would reccomend doing the wood method it should mount easier. plus the one i put them in there with is plastic and its not flush. the fronts sit pretty and i feel are sealed better. i would tear it apart and get you pics but it is too cold for me right now.
