Yeah I guess it all depends on what you're going for. Factory shocks are good for 95% on-road driving, most aftermarket shocks are better for offroad(stiffer valving), but if you spend the big $ you can get very good bilstein reservoir shocks, which offer dual valving, half for on-road(softer valving so its comfortable), and half for off-road(stiffer valving, so you keep tracting going over bumps, etc) it's called variable rate i believe
