"you guys" with the hemi's? hell im running a 4.7 and I drive around town with the tow/haul on. The 3.55 gears are just way too tall.

Im running 30" tires, and still run down the highway at 70 with tow/haul on. Besides, when your trying run the truck man, you dont want to be hanging out in OD man.

PS... i get about 4 MPG better on freeway @ 70 with OD off. JFYI.

you would need the 4.56 gears in order to beat the wagon.... I am thinking of getting 4.56 myself and i heard that they are the best and most useful in racing

Guys I gotta agree
I just tossed in a Detroit Tru Trac and 4.56gears last weekend
Finally broke them in and WOW what a difference,, If I punch the gas anywhere in 1st gear ill break the tires loose now
This is in a 4.7L as well..
I'd say by far best mod ive done to the truck yet..
On the highway its a little more of a pig on gas but it pulls soooo much better up the speedo at any speed

Definately gearing. At least move up to 3.92's. It a 4x4? If 4x4 then expect more expensive for the gears since you gotta do the front too.

+1 but mine isn't a pig on highway gas for me ^^ it's helped my overall mpg. I'm far too inexperienced but w/o cosmetic mods mostly sleeper mods at this point and I bloody LOVE them.

xill...

is your truck a 2wd? if im not mistaken, and maybe pyro can second this, but 4.88's are only offered for two wheel drive rigs.

With these 4.7's, the switch to 4.56's is not only a healthy performance modification, but eases the strain on your drivetrain. You may not think your using a lot of throttle to get up and moving, but its amazing the difference you feel.

LOL, i talk like i know. I have just regeared other vehicles and know the feeling.

OP... 4.56's man, it the eonly way to go.

Well, at WOT, putting it in tow/haul won't make it go any faster
It just delays 2-3, 3-4 part throttle shifts and locks out 5th gear in the 545RFE transmission. Not super power tune or anything when you turn it on.
