Default Rough Country 7" or Fabtech 6"?

hey guys, im looking to lift my truck for a little off road fun. ive been doing a lot of research online and on here and it seems the most popular of the two lifts is the fabtech kit. however thats gonna set me back 1700 that i dont quite have. has anyone had the rough country 7" kit? or do you know anyone who has installed it and liked it? its about 899.00 online and i could use the extra cash on some other mods later on down the road.

advice and pics are much appreciated!

I have the RC 6" lift, didn't know they made a 7" kit. Anyways, its a great kit and you wouldn't notice much of a difference between the two to justify the price difference.

if you go with what ever kit im sure you are going to ad 35's . in that case reading your sig you have a 4.7 . you will need to re gear or it will be sooo slow you will hate it . lift and tires = heavy and wind drag . the only cure is gears and beaing a 4.7 aint going to help much .

yea, my fault on the thread name. i meant rough country 6".
Creative, how do you like your lift, did you see any decrease in pickup when you lifted it or did you re-gear it? ive got a drop shackle on the back and im gonna have to find somewhere to get a stock one so i can get a true 6" out of this thing. i noticed your from OC, i live down there too. did you get it done at Outlaw or somewhere else?

I love the lift. And you just can't beat it for the price, especially since its the same ride as the $1500+ kits. The lift itself wont cause the slowing down, it'll be the bigger wheels/tires. I did notice a little bit of a loss but that was expected, and its still not a "oh my god my trucks useless" kind of change. I haven't re-geared, still running the stock ones and have had no engine troubles or anything of the sort. My lil 4.7 is handling it all very well. I had my lift done at a place called JBM Motoring.

even with the 5.7L I didn't realize how much power I had lost until I decided to get 4:56 gears. Now it is night and day! Best mod yet.

hmmm thanks guys, this helps for sure. im just trying to figure out how im gonna swing something like this. i want a lift but it seems like the drop that is on my truck is gonna be a bit more of a hassle to remedy than i had imagined. any one know of any other options that will get me some ground clearance w/o breaking my bank?
