Default Sandbag/Bed Design idea

So i do alot of snowboarding in the winter.
i want to set this up. i usually have 2 boards with me.
one is 185 cm
the other 155 cm

heres my plan for the snowboards and the sandbags to keep me from sliding out let me know what you think!

i plan on putting my bags and what not in the corners..
or would it be smarter to put sand bags in the corners.. say 2 in each rear corner and keep the front for bags?

the outside 2x4's arent necessary. the box in the middle looks good for the sandbags, but there needs to be a brace on each corner to the side of the bed to keep the whole unit from sliding side to side. you would also probably be better off stacking 2 bags on top of each other in the 2 middle squares instead of having them spread out. your weight needs to be on the axle to be most effective.

i dont want to have the boards rocking around very much.
so i am going to keep the ones on the side to make sure they dont get banged up. in the center if im going to do 2x bags each. should i use something bigger than 2x4s beacuse that leaves room for the bags to move.

the bags wont move. its sand so the top one will kind of mold to the bottom one. if you're gonna use the outside peices, you still need to have anther cross peice bracing all 3 components together (center structure and 2 sides)

your board is 73" (6'1). the bed is 76". with each 2x4 being 1.5" thick, talk about a tight squeeze.

Having the bage like that won't be very effective. Either put them over the axle (where they are supposed to go) or near the tailgate. Just build the box and throw your snowboards on top

he doesnt want the boards to slide around. putting the sand at the rear is worse than at the front of the bed. it lifts weight off the front wheels.

He could easily put some eye hooks int the 2x4s and strap the boards down. I'm not telling him he should put the bags in the very back, but in snow it would be more beneficial than how he has them now.

my truck is also a 4x4. im just trying to get some extra weight for when there is a snowstorm. so its not like the bags are as important as in a 2wd
