Default Tire size?

Recently i've been looking at getting some Nitto Terra Grapplers, I have an 05 4.7 Ram 1500 quadcab. I want to get a good size tire that will make the truck look good. So what size would you guys recommend?

heres a guy with 295/70/17 with a level up front

I think these would work for you and aren't overly pricey like the wider tires. If you have stock rims you may wanna check and see if these would actually fit

^^ You don't think the width will be an issue at stock height? (I am assuming the OP is at stock height). I have been looking into the NTG's with 285/70/17 and that has about an 11.5" width, not sure if that will fit on stock height. I know the size (33") will fit, but the width is questionable.

well, pyro is running the exact same tires and size at stock height and he said theres no problems. I guess he'd be best to ask

Edit, nvmd he has a level. Yea you'd prlly need to level it for that tire. I'm running 285s without a problem so you may wanna play it safe and still have that extra flex in your wheel well

joehemi, do you have the LT or P NTG's? There is a .04 difference in width between the two so I will probably try to get my hands on whatever width you have that way I won't run the risk of rubbing.

P size = 11.46 width
LT = 11.5 width

Pyro is the man to ask for that. I'm running aftermarket 17in rims with LT285/70/17r Firestone Destination M/Ts. My tires are over 11.5 wide with the side lugs and I have no problems.

It's less dependent on leveling in your case and more on rim backspacing, the MTs I have are 4.5" BS, you'll need that to clear wide tires. A level will help, but it'll looked stuffed without one, even running 285/70/17s. You can't go wrong with Terra Grapplers, they're a great tire.

^^Exactly, you should be able to run those tires. I did before the level I put on, but it was tight. If your afraid of some rubbing and can't afford new rims, you could also look at putting a spacer on the stocker rims. You can run them on 17 x 8 rims, just shouldn't do too much offroading where you get tirewall flex or where you have to deflate to get better traction. You can break the bead, and well.....that's never good, on or off road.
