The converter is so you can run your amp, IIRC. You still have to run power wire, ground wire, and maybe a remote wire too. Tap the converter into your rear speakers, and then you run the rca's from that to the amp, along with the power/ground/remote wires....
Edit: this is the process for running any amp/sub combo off of the factory HU. Not just for the Infinity stuff. If you still have to find an amp, might as well just hunt for something else besides factory

Your best bet instead of running power and ground wires is to get a bass tube with an amp already built in. It's the easiest way with the least amount of additional wiring. It can be powered off of any 12 volt source in the truck and by simply splicing into the speaker wire closest to it.
the seperate sub and amp will sound better but the bass tube sounds better suited for what you're using it for.
