Default 305/50/20.....Performance

I have a 2006 Ram, 2wd,and I need some new tires. I've read past threads where people are worrying about the 305/50/20s fitting. I know they will fit, but I'm wondering about performance and gas mileage, which has not been clearly answered in these threads. The current stock size is 275/60/20, on average this size tire weighs 44b according to TireRack.com and the 305/50/20s weigh around 46lb. I don't think the 2lb increase per tire will really affect anything, however there is about 1.25in more rubber touching the pavement. Can anyone give me some insight on how they feel about this size? I'm looking at the Nitto 420 S, if you have other suggestions please let me know. It seems like these tires have the best reviews for a "performance" tire. Thank you in advance.

the 305/50's have less sidewall height so they are not 33" tall like 275/60's are....just so you know.

So, the gas mileage stayed about the same? What do you not like about the wider size? I know they're not going to be the 33'', they'll be around 31.90''. Since mine is 2wd it wouldn't hurt it to drop a little bit.

I have them, but my stock tires were 275/55R20's and the 305/50's are the same height. Much better handling. Gas mileage is so bad (no matter what) I don't even bother to look anymore.

Hmm that's weird. Mine don't rub at all even on full turn.

Really?? Thats weird ... Idk why but my truck looks a little lower in the front in out pics ... Maybe my truck sits lower for some ressen causing the running on mine.
