Default Tell me what you think this noise is...

My dad's truck has been making a whining sound, ever since the day he bought it... my buddy says it sounds supercharged, and I guess he's right... well it's not... and the sound doesn't bother my dad, but drives the **** outta me...

Anyone help me out???

Disregard the little wood chips coming outta the exhaust... we just got done installing the exhaust, and had the tip sitting outside, and some wood chips got stuck in it. haha...

I should probably stay outa this, but my .02 would be if it's from the front of the truck, possibly a belt of some sort (just off a hair or loose) ? I know those usually make a squeal and a quite annoyingly loud one but if it isn't off TOO much could it cause a sound like that, or even loose I'd imagine a loose belt could make sound like that if it wasn't rubbing against anything ? or just thinking, maybe even an over-tightened belt ?

By all means if my random non-inclined opinion is absolutely wrong let me know I'll try to keep it to myself next time and see legit answers Just checkin if my common sense is still intact.

How are they supposed to make a Squeakual 2 if they're stuck in your exhaust ?

Before buying the wifes Durango, I looked at a real nice Jeep with the Hemi in it (or at least I think it had it), and it made this same exact noise, sounded like it was coming right from the firewall.

Id assume its a belt or something too, but ya still might want it checked out

That's the thing I can't really pin point the sound...

My mom's Durango does the same thing... which is why I though it was an auto transmission type thing...

I doubt it's a belt. belts squeel not create that silent whine. The silent whine is generally bearings like on a tensioner pullet or something. very hard to tell with the video as the exhaust buries everything.
