More MPG, 05 Ram 1500 5.7L
Are you joking or are you just a little slow? The cold air intake didn't do anything for my mpg and I really think it's rare that they actually improve mileage. I mean technically the stock intake is a CAI b/c it pulls air from the fender well, but if it gave you more mpg that's great for you.
It's gotta be a fluke, even on the 09 hemi a couple people claimed like 1 mpg w/ the true flow XDI. Don't get me wrong it's great that you got more mpg from yours but I think it's rare to see even 1 mpg from a CAI. Maybe we should start a poll in the FAQ's for which mod gave the best mpg gain and have people comment how much they gained w/ that mod.
lol maybe mine is a fluke or just i had horrible mpg from the start after the break in period i was only getting 9 mpg arround town and 15 highway. now i get 14 arround town and not too much diff on the highway. but that pole would be interesting hopefully im not the only one.
Trust me, it ain't the CAI... It's you easing up with the foot without you realizing it, wanting the mod to give you better MPGs.
I have a K&N, have installed a dozen K&N's, and read K&N's own data (which they inflate) shows an estimated 1 mpg gain and 9 HP. Oh, and the HP numbers are at the crank, you would be lucky to see 4 HP reach the rear wheels.
Not that it's a bad mod, a CAI really helps open things up for other mods, but no way on this earth you are seeing an increase like that from a CAI...
