Intake question
I put a K&N 1537 in my 06 1500 v6 last week. The tube doesn't have a hole for my o2 sensor, so my check engine light stays on. Should I drill a hole into it to insert the sensor? Do I need to do anything special to make it work? Thanks
I recently installed mine and I had to drill a hole. On my model, it may be different, there was a marking with the letters DP. I am guessing this meant drill point, and thats where i drilled it. I am pretty sure your 06 is similar to my 08. The DP was located just about in the middle of the tube before the bend on the back side.
They also supplied me with a holder for the o2 sensor that holds it snug in the tube. It also told me to remove the o-ring from the sensor when installing it in the tube. Once again, mine might be different.

It went in, but it wasn't the easiest job ever. Once you drill the hole and put the rubber holder in you can tell that its goanna be a tight fit for the sensor. It took me a few tries to get it in (I would push it through and the rubber holder would go into the tube). I just wobbled and twisted it around as nicely as I could and eventually it went right into place.
That's a nice looking V6. You notice a difference with the intake? How about MPG? I was thinking of getting one eventually.

Found it in ebay for like $100 shipped. It was brand new in the box, I guess the guy only thought it fit a 02 so he had trouble selling it. I see your point though.
Thanks! I have noticed a difference with the intake, it gets up better and has better throttle responce. As for MPG, I usually drive a lot of highway miles but since I was recently laid off I've just been putting around town. Haven't had a chance to notice a difference.
Good deal, I was just messing w/ you.
