Default Where is the fuel filter on an 02?

Hi

Does anyone here know where the fuel filter is on an 02 ram 5.9l (360 Magnum) My truck is getting sluggish and I have already changed the plugs and it has a clean K&N air filter.

How often do these fuel filters need changing once I know where to find it?

I don't think that it is a replaceable filter. It is built into the fuel pump i believe.

Isn't it the silver canister on top of the pump?

Thank you but is it in the tank or the canister on top of the pump? I just looked at the service history and it looks like it has never been replaced. The truch has just under 90k on it now.

I think the above is correct. It is part of the pump and not really serviceable. Most are in the tanks today, but several searches turn up it is on top of the tank, to in the tank, to not being a part you replace without doing the pump itself. Any way you cut it you would have to drop the tank to get at it.

I googled it and it came up with that canister on top of my tank. I suppose I will have to call the local Dodge stealer tomorrow.

My google yeilded all the results I mentioned above. The reason I think it will end up being "part of the pump" is because looking on parts supplies websites I do not see a "fuel filter" listed for a 2002.

Given the work it would take I would have it tested. They can test pressure and for contamination. If you do end up having to drop the tank it may be worth replacing the pump given it will be easy at that point.

Dumb boy here has just been out in the snow under my truck to have a look! That canister pulls out of the pump and the fuel line clips on. If that's the fuel filter then it's an easy change but I will check with the dealer tomorrow.

Thanks for the input! If I have to drop the tank just to change a fuel filter then the truck is up for sale! I'm sick and tired of Dodge take it to the dealer bulls**t!
