Default Leveling Kit

Just put a leveling kit in my 2002 4x4 1/2 ton, and the truck rides absolutely horribly. The front end is so stiff it does not move at all, I pulled the front right tire up on the 12" curb in front of my buddies house and measured from each tire to the wheel well and neither tire moved at all. Is there anything I can do to make it ride better besides pulling the kit back out? I think bigger rubber would only make it bounce worse than it does now.

Did you replace your shocks or at least get a kit with re-location bracket or are you driving around with topped out stock shocks? Did you go so high as to significantly increase the CV shaft angle?

Keys will stiffen up the front somewhat, because they work by tensioning the torsion bars past factory spec, but usually not enough that people complain about it...

Got the Rough Country kit, all it had were the torsion keys. We followed the directions that came with it, measure the bolts and put them back in the same length, so I don't think its too high unless Rough Country doesn't know what they're talking about.

Nope, but you really need longer shocks when you buy just the keys alone, to keep stock shocks you need a kit with the relocation brackets. The Rough Country keys are fine, I know a few guys with them. Their extended length shocks for use with leveled trucks are decent too. Not on par with Bilsteins or Ranchos, but a good bit cheaper.

I would say a good set of 2" longer shocks would fix you right up, would be why you had NO TRAVEL when you tested, your shocks are over-extended...

Ok, I'll try some longer shocks, hopefully that fixes the problem, I was driving down the highway this morning and had trouble drinking my coffee the ride was so rough.

It helps a TON with new longer shocks.

I have the rough country keys, with stock length shocks on an 02, and do not experience the stiffness you describe. Yes a little stiffer than stock, which is to be expected, but still rides fine, even off road!

I don't know how that's possible, I had my friend push down on the front bumper and all of the motion of him pushing down was transferred to the wheels, not dissipated in the suspension like normally.

have you looked at your cv joints? your truck looks awful high? if it is too high your cvs will show it. post us a pic from the front of your cv angle
