a junk yard 4x4 frame and drivetrain would be cheaper like someone said earlier, then put your body on it

Dude if you don't have time to do the homework then you don't have time to do the conversion, this same topic came up in another thread recently and evryone said the same thing,it's just not cost effective. If you really are serious about it,price be damned then post up at least some more specific questions,if you aren't familiar with what's going on under the front of a 4wd you have no buisness trying to swap one into your truck. Just my honest opinion.

I wasn't joking when I mentioned about buying a crashed truck. I have known people wanting 4x4 on classic two wheel drive trucks and that's what they did. They bought modern 4x4 rolled trucks and did cab swaps. Even that is no where near as easy as it sounds and involves alot of welding and fabrication to get body mounts etc lined up. That would be a good project

not if your swapping ram 2wd to ram 4wd especially 02-05 its all the same except for the 4x2 and 4x4 parts all the mounts and holes will line up....the cab should just swap right to the other frame no problems....

That would be the easiest and most efficient way to do it. Trying to swap front suspensions would be a heinous PITA.

Yes but I think Alex want's something a bit more involved then just a simple bolt on. Am I right or wrong so how about a chassis swap but change the torsion bars to coil overs and the rear to a 4 link coil over? Just an idea.

i have been doin hw, what do you think this thread is? i cannot find pics of a 4wd frame/front suspension in enough detail to see which mounting points and components interchange between the two, along with the mounts that may or may not be present on my truck that are not used by the 2wd set up, but are by the 4wd.

i never said price be damned, parts are cheap if you know where to look and my fab time is free. again im trying to figure out if its worth MY time, not your time, pursuing.

more specific questions? i asked for a PICTURE. I know that im going to have to convert from coil springs, and that some mounts will need to be welded on, the drive train components etc. i have done many suspension/motor/transmission setups in various cars, and some of them have bosses and unused mounting locations because they didn't come with certain options stock (such as all newer camaros have clutch bosses, as well as mounting points for exhaust hangers for both possible exhaust systems when only one would ever be used on one car. maybe the dodge has similar things in regard to the two optional front suspensions?

You come into my thread, and bash me, tell me what my time is worth, and then tell me i don't know what i'm talking about.. and only have some basic bolt ons and coil spacers... you seem VERY knowledgeable to me about front end conversions so please, if your gonna bash keep it to your self, its not like i said "im going to do this swap come hell or high water", i'm sorting out what it's gonna take then i'm going to make a decision based on my skills and resources. ah it's great being a "newb" again on a new forum lol
