Default Rear axle leak help?

Hi
Recently my rear axle has started to leak from the front pinion. Although it's not a bad leak, i.e. it doesn't drip and the fluid level doesn't drop, the sulfur in the oil is making my truck smell! It smells like it's just been pulled out of the wreckers! I want to change the seal myself but I need to know if the preload on the input is set by a crush sleeve or shims? If it's shims then it's an easy job, if it's a crush sleeve then I have to reset the pinion preload and it's a pita! Does anyone here know? I have an 02 1500 5.9 Magnum slt quad cab, long bed with a posi drive rear axle.
Thank you!

The pinion depth is set by shims, the preload is set by a crush sleeve. That's what my LSD is, I think all 9.25's are the same.

I take it that means that if I were to remove the yoke to change the seal I would have to replace the crush sleeve and reset the preload?

I didn't, I just put the old crush sleeve back in and torqued it down, that was 30k ago. My LSD is acting up but I don't think that has anything to do with the pinion, last I checked it there still wasn't any play in it.
