Default Thinking about crossing over.....

Had a 2nd Gen Ram for a couple of years now but hit a telephone poll on tuesday. I've been
thinking that if its totaled I might go for a 2005 SC/SB 1500. I was hoping you guys could
point me to the common problem areas of the 3rd gens. If there is a good post on this topic
i'd be happy to be pointed in the right direction, if not a list and/or quick rundown would be
great help too. Thanks in advance.

My dad has a 05 qcsb, and has had no problems with it, granted his is a 2500 HD 4x4, but still, no issues. I myself have a 2007 and have had no issues. Just my .02...

I've got an 04 QC and have been very happy with it. I bought if off the lot and wished it didn't have a power seat when I bought it and sure enough that's one of only 2 issues I've had with it. It still works except for the rear up/down adjustment and isn't cheap to fix. Only other issue I have is the washer fluid isn't working - not sure why yet. I don't think either of those things are common or chronic known issues - just my issues. My next truck, whenever that ends up being, will be another RAM.

I went from an 01 1500 Off Road to my current 3rd gen. The old truck was nice but doesn't compare to the 3rd gen.

Love my '03. Bought at 86K, now 103K. It's easy to work on, and fun to drive.

I just purchased a 2004 SC/SB 5.7L with 37000 miles on it and love it! Only had it 20 days so I cant help you out with inherent problems, but I hoping there are none!

Dreghorn, Thats low miles for your 04' man! Good find. Not too often you can find a nice truck with decent miles on it.

i agree with the low miles. That is pretty good.

Obviously every truck is ging to have its different quarks, however I think the 3rd Gen rams in general are a great running platform. As far as having a common problem, i dont think there are any. Oh wait, yes there is. I do get a lot of complaints about the "lamp out" indicator. Sometimes the taillight ballast will act funny and tell the truck it has a lamp out, when it really doesnt. so you will get chimes consistently, one after another all the way down the road. Mine does it for abut 5 minutes every 6 months.

Other than that, I dont know of any problems. I was hard core ferd man, and this truck changed my whole perspective. love it.
