ok...flushed the heater core and well it worked. just strange though wonder if anyone had any more info. it was blowing super hot the first day i did it but now it has toned down. its still sufficient in my mind so im not really complaining. im thing down the road i may just need a new heater core right? Anyway second thing. the passenger side does not blow air as hard as the driver side. it seems to feel hotter on almost the low fan setting and thats how i noticed the difference. any clues to why?

the only reason you would need a new heater core is if your current one was leaking. if it worked, and its slowly losing heat again, i would think your whole system needs flushed. sounds like you got the gunk out of the core, but its filling up with more gunk from elsewhere in the system. so i would look at a comlpete system flush. (way cheaper than a new core)

plus if you got a new one, and there is still sediment in the rest of the system, the new one would just get gunked up.

i would flush the whole system first, then see about the defrost. this is exactly what mine did.

ORANGE COOLANT MEANS IT'S A FIVE YEAR NO CHANGE COOLANT, RATHER THAN THE 3 YEAR GREEN COOLANT. YOUR NOT SUPPOSE TO MIX THE TWO, WILL GUM UP I HEAR, IT'S BETTER TO DRAIN ALL COOLANT AND PUT IN THE GREEN, IT'S CHEAPER., ALSO IT SOUNDS LIKE THE HEATER CORE IS CLOGGED TRY FLUSHING THE CORE AND THEN CHECK FOR THE DOOR NOT CLOSING, IT'S ALWAYS GOOD TO FLUSH AND CHANGE COOLANT
