My Experience With my Sound System.
Even if it was the box that blew em out the OP said in his post that it was in fact his fault for not setting the gain correctly. I agree with Animal and RH it is crap that he screwed over the store. As far as people givin ya crap Animal it's just a matter of being polite, most people won't say negative stuff to people but obviously your not one that is scared to tell it like it is.
I am going to guess couple things here.
1st the box is probably way to small and could be blowing your subs.
2nd not sure what kind of amp you have, but it can be putting out some major distortion.
3rd, are you using a factory head-unit? Does it have factory rca jacks or did you have to install a rca module?
If you have the module, more then likely its not giving enough volt output to your amp to give a clean higher signal to your amp to give it clean power.
If anything........ first thing I would probably do is ditch that stock HU and get a HU with rca that can put out at least 3-volt output on the rca.
Plus you'll love the sound better then the stock HU. Then play by ear and tune the amp. If it still sounds like POOH, toss the box.

i totally agree with getting what you pay for but i do know some very shady car audio shops here in tulsa. that is why i do all my own installs. the people that made that box and sold that box and installed that box knew it was sh*t. i dont know the op's experience with car audio but a lot of people dont know anything about it walk into a audio shop trusting to get some umph. you should be able to get a decent system for under a grand with no problem. i had a shop tell me that sony xplod was the top of the line trying to make a quick sale, psssssssst. i dont like shady business and i do everything i can to fu*c them over. word of mouth is a biyotch.
RH no love lost.. poonsa lama laka and happy birthday

Allow me to clear up a few things here.
Any place that sells me an amp that's going to blow out my subwoofers because of distortion without informing me about why I should make a better decision simply because they didn't have any better of an amp in their store at the moment, and trying to sell me an in-dash unit instead of that clean-sweep that the other dude was talking about, is a shady place.
Unfortunately there are very few honest businesses out there, especially here in california.
The technicians didn't adjust the gain on my amp at all. They didn't even inform me about how to do it, or tell me not to touch the gain.
If they're going to mate a piece of **** amp to some decent subwoofers in a crap box and tell me that it's fine, I have absolutely no problem playing their game right back at them.
Most small business are like packs of hyenas waiting too take every penny out of your pocket. They wouldn't survive if they didn't have that type of business model. I made a mistake and got taken advantage of.
That's the whole reason I posted this and the reason that forums like this exist. So people can share their experiences and give and receive help.
