pacesetter ltz
well after lots of research on this forum i have realized the pacesetter long tubes are the way to go, can any one give me some info on these headers......likes.....dislikes, and are they worth the agrivation trying to put them on in the garage. do i need any special tools? and i heard the gaskets are crap and should buy factory gaskets. again any info would be great as his will be my most expensive performance mod so far.

I heard these headers give our trucks the most torque and have the best price for a set of lt's. If your gonna get these get a pcaesetter ORY to go along with it unless your gonna do duals. If you do duals its gonna be alot harder to snake the pipe around the underbody.
Most tq? I dunno about that. I'm sure they're comparable to other lt's, but I doubt they give "the most."
Pacesetter is a good bang-for-the-buck header, but their quality is crap. You'll need to cut an ear off of your trans, but that's really a non-issue.
Definately get the oem gaskets, that goes for any header.

You can do them in your garage with basic hand tools, we did mine after work one night, took about 5hrs or so if you dont do the cats and use their Y pipe otherwise tack on a couple more hours. One tool you do want for this though is a Sawzall so if you dont have one get one
Dislikes:
- The passengerside O2 bung was not at the right angle so the top of the O2 sensor was going into the heat sheild on the floor board, nothing a hammer and sawzall couldn't fix though.
- When its on jack stands the front passenger alignment tab clears the headrs fine but when its on the ground it diggs into them so you have to trim it or bend it back about an inch.
- Their Y Pipe where it connects from the driverside and ducks under the trans leaks like a SOB with the clamps they send you so if you are doing the pacesetter Y WELD IT!!!
- The inlets on the Y did not fit on the drivers side collector so it may need to be opened up. The fix is easy just cut 2 1/8" wide x 1" long slits on the inlet pipe and slide it over the collector and clamp it down. If you ever plan on removing the headers or plan on redoing the exhaust do not weld the Y to the collector.
Likes:
- The truck pulls so much better throughout the rpms.
- The exhaust tone is louder and more aggressive
- MPG's went up by 1mpg (if I keep my foot out of it).
- Much better get-up-and-go power from a dead stop.
- Found them for DIRT CHEAP on Craigslist
- NO CEL's with the Stock cats welded up in place.
