Gibson Super Truck Catback - thoughts?
I guess some of you can tell from my previous posts that I'm a dumbass when it comes to exhaust systems. But I found this one on ebay and really like the tips and the exit point. Looked it up on youtube and I have to say I like the sound as well. Not too loud, which some won't like I'm sure, but that's what I want. And I want the sound to be more "controlled" or "organized" for lack of better words - not the raw sound of something like straight duals. However, I don't want something that is gonna rust or fall off within a year either. In other words, nothing el cheapo. Any thoughts on the Gibson? Here is a YT clip and a link to the ebay auction.

The guy in the yt video has something about a ramhammer. Not sure what that is but the vid does show what looks like some sort of cold air/enhanced intake. Does that have much influence on the sound or volume of the exhaust? All I have is a K&N filter in the stock airbox.
I did see a Gibson catback on Ebay for $361 shipped, BUT most Gibson exhausts are mild steel or Aluminized with a Stainless tip. I def wouldn't get a mild steel POS catback as you have stainless from the factory.
Being that video is inside a garage..The sound actually echoes and is a very unfair video clip. That exhaust probably can't even be heard outside as it's very mellow and low toned. Little too mellow or low for me.
Put a guy that has a flowmaster in the garage and your speakers will probably crackle. Again, inside the garage is a crappy way to get an idea about an exhaust.
keep your K&N drop in filter. Buying anything more is a waste of your money on a stock engine. Everyone falls for CAI and their high price tag. Stock engine you won't notice anything other than anooying swoosh sounds inside your cab when you hit the gas. I've yet to see a dyno run for a CAI on a stock hemi truck.

I have the same Gibson Side Exit that is in the video. Had it for about a year now and it sounds great. It sounds a little muffed up when MDS kicks in but thats with any exhaust. I dont think your truck has it anyway. My tips rusted in about 6 months even after waxing all the time. Still a great cat back for the money.
Hell the tips are the only parts that are stainless, and yours rusted in 6 months?
No I don't have MDS on mine and glad I don't.

Ya the tips sucked. I dont know what part of the country you live in but my central Pennsylvania winters blow. All the salt and road grime killed the stainless tips in a matter of months.

Salt rarely an issue here in NC unless you live closer to the coast than I do - and then it's the salt in the air, not on the roads. And anytime they do salt the roads here, in the aftermath, I always take my vehicles and have a full wash including undercarriage.
