Gettin a toolbox and want some bedrails too
This is the first truck I've owned without a toolbox in the back. Doesn't look like many of you around here have them. Maybe it's a southern redneck thing but most guys around here have them and I always have before. Don't know how I've done without one for this long. I went without it so I could haul my ATV in the back with the tailgate closed but I don't do that anymore now that I have a trailer. So, as soon as I can find the box I want in stock, I'm getting one.
Anyway, that's not the question. I'm thinking about some stainless bedrails to match my stainless step bars but I have bed rail caps that I don't want to get rid of but they have ribs on the top of them. Any recommendations on removing portions of the ribs where the rails will mount so it can sit flush without mucking up the rail caps elsewhere?

I don't think there is ANY way to remove the ribs in the plastic without it coming out looking like sh*t. Any kind of grinder or sander is gonna chew it up a good bit, IMO. Maybe you could file it down by hand, but it will take a bit of work and elbow grease.

Yeh, scratch the rails idea, especially after I just started pricing them. Would rather put that money into the exhaust.
Any suggestions on best way to fasten toolbox to the bed? In the past, I've always just drilled a hole through the box and bed rail on each side and threw a toggle bolt in there. It got the job done. Wondering if it might be better to through the front cross rail instead though.

no, don't drill the bed rail, then you got a problem if you ever decide to remove the toolbox. Drill the toolbox and use a "J" bolt on each side, when you tighten it down from inside the box, won't go anywhere and cannot be removed except from inside the toolbox, so if it's locked, it can't be removed.
