I havent wired up mine either. Someone posted around here a little while ago that he put the truck in reverse with the parking break on then touched the wire to each wire on the harness and whichever one lit up the bar then you tap into that. I havent tried it yet but its pretty easy not to give it a shot.

I want to do this as well. After seeing how easy it was to tap into the headlight wire today, this will be something that should be even easier. What light are you refering to? Have a link?

All you need to do is locate the positive wire to your reverse light on your taillight and splice the white wire into it. I used a volt meter to find mine.

This is right from the products discription page..."If your vehicle has a different format connector from the one provided, specific connectors can be obtain at a parts store. Experienced mechanics or electricians can hardwire this bar into the vehicles lighting system with minimal fuss. The white wire found at the base of the lightbar must be connected to the diver side taillight reverse light socket. The easiest way to do this is with a scotch-lock."

Bad idea. Good way to pop a fuse or burn something up. use a volt meter always!
I tapped into my reverse light wiring under the hood. not sure if you have the same wiring colors, but on the driverside back fenderwell close to the firewall there are a bunch of wires. In that bunch, white with a light green stripe is the reverse light. i t-tapped into that for my back-up lights. Much easier to tap off that and route that wire than from the tailights. I stuck that wire with a test probe first before i tapped it. You can use a saftey pin or a needle to get through the insulation and then touch your voltmeter to the needle. Put your E-brake to the floor and set your truck in reverse. You should get 12v on that wire and nothing ofcourse when in park.

I was the one doing the wire touching thing, but I dont see how you would blow a fuse as the only wire carrying any current would be your reverse wire. If you had a test probe that would be better I guess. Anyways Ive heard somewhere the wires are different colors on different years, IDK if thats true or not.

all i did was used the splicing connector that recon supplied and spliced it into the black wire coming from the reverse light bulb wiring harness. Its very easy. You dont need to expose the wire just snap the red splicing connector onto the black wire.

i've never done one of these but i woulda thought you could just tie all the wires into the wiring for the tailights at the back and not have to run stuff up to the front of the vehicle. I mean that has your tail lights, brake lights, turn signals, and reverse light. Or is it that the wires for the taillights aren't fused for enough power to run the recon bar as well? because hell if you could do that wiring it'd take like 30 minutes to install if you have a good soldering gun
