Default Quick Gear Install Q... sorry

Hey guys... Looking into getting some work done on the Dodge (hopefully) in the next couple of months, and Im calling around getting some prices of everything.

Ive got a guy here in town that is pretty reputable and he says that he can get me "Dodge Chrysler" 4:56 gears for $500, and labor for $825. Is this sounding right? I know that Moes has got the special on the Motive gears + install kit for $599.

Just some quick thoughts guys, thanks...

I know I would pay 500 for just gears. Now if that was gears, oil, master kit and maybe something else, then I might. IDK what 4wd installation costs but I know shops around here wanted between 400-450 for my 2wd.

If anything Mopar gears IMO would be of lesser quality, so I'd not pay any more for them than I could get Motives for. Does the $500 include master install kit and does that kit use Timkin bearings?

$825 install is at the higher end of the scale, but within range. Might be real good if prices in Cali are higher as a rule.

I was mainly worried about the install price, because I was kind of sold on the Motive kit that MOe's offers. The guy was against Motive, and said that he wouldnt warranty, but Im thinking hes not the only game in town.

Like I said, I was mainly worried about the install labor price, this way I know about what to expect. I called 5 other shops, and none of them would even install the gears if I ordered form somewhere else. Then two of them said that they were too busy!(?)

Anyways, thanks, I have yet to call 4 wheel parts too, never know, they may be the cheapest and most reaosnable. thanks guys!

I have 2WD - my Motive 4.10s were $169 from Moe's. Labor was $400 including a seal or something he had to replace. I didn't do the full master kit because I only had 17K on the truck when I did them. A little bit pricey mod but a good one.
