Okay, as I stated in my prior posts, I am new to the forum and a new gen 3 owner. I recently purchased my truck from my dad, and the other day when going to the ATM (to pull out gas money LOL), I could here a slight grinding noise when I would shift the trans from park to reverse, and also from park to drive. I did a search and couldn't find anything. Is this normal or do I have problems coming??? Thanks for reading this

 

you have problems comming. sounds like your dad saw you comming.

do a search on differential noise and do lots of reading you answere is in their.

 

Check your drive shafts before you condemn your transmission!

 

how many miles on your truck and is it the 5.9 or 4.7? if its the 5.9L you have the wonderful 46re POS tranny. but do check the driveshafts first. have someone get under the truck and look and listen while you sweep through all the gears

 

I guess what I mean by grinding, it almost sounds like when you try and put it into park when the vehicle is still moving, which makes me think it's in the tranny. I am not sure what one they used behind the 4.7 turd.

 

i believe either the 45rfe or 545rfe.

my 4.7 has the 45rfe, when you have your foot firmly on the brake and you go from park to drive it a very slight griding noise? mine started doing that just before i left for overseas, only heard when i was at a drive through and started shifted outta park with my window down.

 

just a torsion bar level at the moment. soon i will be looking at 35" tires and maybe a 3" body lift. it all depends on how much i am going to be owing uncle sam this year
