Transmission Problems
It's probably a combination of a couple things. Seeing as how i get about 9.5 MPG that should tell you how i drive but i also have a full time lawn and landscaping business where i pull an 18 foot trailer with 2, sometimes 3 1200lb. mowers on it. I also have a 25 ft boat that is rather heavy im guessing around 8000lbs. with the trailer, that i pull quite often. Its all good though because im hoping to get a built tranny for graduation.
Viper, I'm at 50K on a 2003 Quad Hemi 4x4 and tow and it is going like day one.
The only weird thing that happens to me is the notorious "cold reboot" necessary every once in a while. You start the truck and it runs like crap. It can bearly crawl along. You stop, shut the key all the way off, restart the engine and it runs perfect. It's happened a total of 4 times in two years and 50K miles.

I have an 02 4.7 QC. it has the new trans (45rfe). It went into limp mode at 38K, meaning it wouldn't shift up or down, locked into 3rd. Since my truck was bought in Jan 02 it was not covered by the 7/70 (per Dodge they didn't start that until June). They replaced the trans PCM and a solenoid pack in the trans. for $750. I did get them to pay half since it took 2 weeks and I got a little irate. It has been perfect for the last 10K. I love the truck but I do wonder if it is going to last. BTW, the check engine light spit out a code so I thought great, I'll go buy the sensor it was reffering to. Turns out the code doesn't distinguish between a defective sensor or an abnormal condition the sensor was monitoring, I wasted $60 on a new sensor (line pressure sensor on trans). Moral: don't trust vague check engine codes. Of course since the dealer was throwing parts at it, they would have done the same thing probably.

Thats Weird.. I bought my 02 Ram in Feb of 02. I have the 7/70 powertrain warranty on it and it has the 4.7 in it. Sounds like someone told you a big fat lie.

Is it possible it's an additional add-on to your payment? Finance guys like to slip this stuff into the paperwork. According to what I found the factory 7/70 wasn't added until July 02. My 01 didn't have the 7/70.
"Powertrain warranty of 7 years / 70000 miles applies to all new Dodge vehicles sold or leased after July 9, 2002"
Nah not possible.. Thats why I didnt purchase the extended warranty. I paid cash for the truck at like 28K fully loaded with leather and all. I remember cause the finance guy wanted to sell me the extended and I asked him if he thought I was gonna have problems with the engine or trans after 70 miles should I really be buying this truck and he shut his trap.
