Help me pick larger tires for my 06' Ram 1500 2x4
Thanks a lot guys! You've given me tons to take a look at.
As for the 2x4 comment... I used to be a carpenter before I got into the gig I'm doing now... on weekends I rehab old buildings. 2x4 is used more in my vocabulary than 4x2 so it just flows out haha.

I'm really diggin' these 295/70-17 Nitto Terra Grappler AT's. The price is a little more than I wanted to pay but I should be able to swing it.
Do you guys have any other suggestions to toss in the mix? Some just a little more aggressive/off road looking that will still allow me to drive highway?
To be honest I know nothing about buying tires for a truck... all of my other cars I had traded in by the time it needed new tires and I've only purchased for a couple of beetles and my ol' 91' Plymouth Acclaim... that was a hell of a car... punched 30 over.... great puddle jumper.

$738 shipped.
Then I'd imagine the mounting and balancing is about $25 a tire at my local shop.

I think they are gonna be all the tire you need, especially if your truck is a daily driver. They got my Jeep thru some pretty sloppy plowed fields to get some spec fishing in up at the farm last month.
Now, they aren't what my Cepek FCIIs are off-road by any means, but those Cepek's howl on the interstate. The Terra Grapplers on my GC are extremely quiet and handle surprisingly well for a tread that does as good as it does for me off the pavement.
In person, the tread is fairly aggressive looking for a true A/T tire, but if you want that "bad a$$" aggressive look, get you a set of wheels with about a 4.5" backspace to widen the stance a little. Nothing beats having yours tires extend out past the wheelwells a bit for an aggressive stance IMO...

One more question guys.
295's on the front should be good and keep rubbing to a minimum... but whats the largest I could go in the rear? I'm thinking I should be able to fit some more meat under the rears since its higher and they don't turn.

I think it will look funny if you get different sizes. Its not like a drag racer. Plus you should rotate your tires to get optimum life/preformance out of them and you cant do that if they are different sizes.
