Smile 6.1 Transplant into 04 Ram

I have a complete 6.1 hemi from a 2008 SRT8 Jeep to install in my 2004 5.7 shortbox 4x4 Ram. Has anybody done this before, or anybody have advice, tips, or "beware" to help me out???

just a FYI you might have some issues with the comp sending the wrong amount of fuel to motor and stuff like that.

look on 2nd gen and you will find some people with issues from swapping in 360 motors when the comp is still seeing it as a 318.

YOu should build up the motor before you drop it in. New ported ad polished heads, new aggressive cam, new springs and lifters. That would be sweet.

Sounds like a good project coming on! I agree on a build up on the engine before hand. Before you decide to do it later, new cams on those sound so sick

I would also build it up before changing it out. Do what ever you want to it while it is out and on the stand. I also agree you will need the PCM and everything else that goes with it. What trans came with it? Will you need a custom drive shaft?

The engine came with all the electrical out of the SRT8, but no tranny.
It's from a rollover with only has 15000 kms on it. It has the stock headers attached, don't know if they will fit the Ram? If the 6.1 have the same exhaust port configuration as the 5.7? The SRT8 is pretty raunchy right out of the box, so I was planning on trying it out as is.
Was planning on bolting it up to my 545RFE, changing to an aftermarket torque converter, transgo shift kit and changing the clutch packs to beefier kolene set-ups through Moe's.
